A very common part of direct to garment printing is removing a background in an image. This is referred to as creating a transparency. If you have an image that has a white background to it and you print it onto a black shirt you will get a large white square with the image inside. This is not so good looking and also a killer in ink costs. So you will need to remove the white background and create a transparent background, this way you only print the image. This can be done in many programs but PhotoShop is the most common and in my opinion one of the best for image editing. When you are new to direct to garment this is one of the first things you will need to learn. Here is a video to show you how to do it. Take your time and have some fun, before you know it you will be a PhotoShop pro.
